"We're going to my island for a few days. Do you guys want to come?"

A dream vacation turns into a total nightmare in Zoë Kravitz's directorial debut, Blink Twice. Originally and infamously entitled Pussy Island, the psychological thriller follows a cocktail waitress, Frida (Naomi Ackie), to the private island of tech billionaire Slater King (Channing Tatum). As the paradisical sunshine begins to illuminate dark secrets, Frida realizes she might not make it out of the party alive.

"I wanted to find someone who hadn't played a dark character before, because I think that's exciting to watch someone who's mostly played boy next door, good guy, love interest, all of that," Kravitz told WSJ. Magazine of casting Tatum in the role of Slater King. "I felt, even from afar, before I knew him, that he was a feminist and that he wasn't afraid of exploring that darkness, because he knows he's not that. That's why I was drawn to him and wanted to meet with him. And I was right."

Kravitz wrote the screenplay for Blink Twice with E.T. Feigenbaum and also produced alongside Tatum, Bruce Cohen, Tiffany Persons, and Garret Levitz. The ensemble cast includes Alia Shawkat, Simon Rex, Adria Arjona, Haley Joel Osment, Christian Slater, Kyle MacLachlan and Oscar winner Geena Davis.

Blink Twice opens in theaters on Aug. 23. Watch the trailer below.
