The countdown to the 96th Oscars is on!
This time last year, we were all wondering which of the year's best films would be named Best Picture — an honor that ultimately went to Everything Everywhere All at Once. Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert's multiversal masterpiece went on to take home seven Oscars in total and made Oscars history by winning in all three of the acting categories in which it was nominated. (It became only the third film to do so, after A Streetcar Named Desire in 1952 and Network in 1977.)
This year, 10 more films are vying for Best Picture, with Oscars to be handed out in all 23 categories during a ceremony that Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang promise will be "exceptional." In the meantime, here is everything you need to know about the 96th Oscars.
